DREAMING. . .

So today at lunch Robert, my mom, and I had a discussion about dream vacations.  I realized that I have so many dream vacations, that I'd better write them down or risk them never becoming a reality.

1. EUROPE: Ever since travelling to Russia my senior year, I have a wanderlust for more Europe.  London, France, Rome, Athens.  I want to see them all.  I know that seeing them all in a week would not allow me sufficient time to peruse, absorb, etc. so I want to take a month-long trip spending at leas a week in each region.  Truthfully, though, I have little desire to spend time in Germany or Spain.  Maybe some time in Oslo and Denmark.  The great cities of art and civilization.  THat's where I want to be.  My apologies to those of you that spend oodles of time in Germany.  Teach me and I will be taught.
2.  2 months on the East Coast:  I want to go to New York, Philadelphia, Boston, D.C. and I realize the only way to see everything I want to see is to relocate for the Entire summer.  Of course:  lodging and Husband time away from work are issues to be resolved, but I am determined to do it one of these years soon before everybody starts getting married.  3 more years til Amy graduates.  EEEEEEEEK
3.   Hawaii:  With or without kids, I've always wanted to go.  This may stem from the many acquaintances in High school who spent each Christmas vacation outside.  Always. Have. Wanted. To.
4.  Disney cruise to Alaska + 2 weeks in Anchorage/Interior. I guess I want my kids to see my stomping ground.  Plus, I miss the Gorgeous Alaskan Summers.  Wouldn't move there, though, to save my life.  I like my life of relative ease with regard to the weather.  St. George Rocks@@!!!!!.  Just Saying :)
5. Church History Tour:  I want to see it all. Maybe on the way back from the East coast :).  A plan is beginning to form.

Places I'd love to go if you Paid me, but not desperately anxious to visit:  Asia, Africa, South America.  I'm not really a primitivo.  I like running water and modern conveniences along with my adventure.

Waiting until the kids were old enough to appreciate the history of it all made our East Coast trip much more fun! J and A were able to do all the walking without all the complaining, as well as accepting different sleeping accommodations and offbeat restaurants.

Hawaii! Just do it. Rent a condo (think washer/dryer, ease of food preparation and Costco) for two weeks (one week is not enough because it WILL rain for at least 4 days, which is no fun)and go for it. Your kids are at the best age for it, especially the younger ones. We have taken J and A several times, and when they were younger I packed life preservers in the bottom of their suitcases (beach safety, riptides and large waves). Once they were willing to listen to the "lecture" about how to save themselves they no longer had to wear them.

Lessons I have learned: life is too short to not explore dreams!
